What is UTTS and Why is it Important?

What is UTTS and Why is it Important?

What is UTTS (National Vehicle Recognition System)?

The National Vehicle Identification System (UTTS) is a digital audit system developed to record fuel consumption in Turkey and prevent tax losses. The system automatically records fuel purchase information through recognition devices (TTB) mounted on vehicles.

What Does UTTS Do?

The National Vehicle Identification System (UTTS) is a system that aims to prevent tax losses and ensure transparency in transactions by automatically recording fuel purchases made by commercial vehicles. Thanks to this system, fuel purchases are digitally transferred to the Revenue Administration (RA) system without the need for manual invoicing processes. This saves time and labor for companies and prevents irregularities. UTTS also allows companies to analyze their fuel consumption, see their costs more clearly and increase their operational efficiency.

What is a TTB (Vehicle Identification Unit)?

A Vehicle Recognition Unit (TRU) is an electronic unit installed on vehicles that enables the system to automatically recognize the vehicle during fuel purchase. Thanks to this device, the license plate number, user information and fuel consumption of the vehicle are automatically entered into the system without the need for manual entry.

What are the Products Tracked with UTTS?

The main products tracked by the UTTS system are as follows:

  • Gasoline
  • Diesel (Diesel Oil)
  • LPG (Auto gas)
  • Other fuel derivatives

The commercial use and consumption of these products is monitored and digitally documented under the UTTS.

In Which Sectors is UTTS Used?

The National Vehicle Identification System (UTTS) is actively used in many sectors where fuel consumption and expense tracking are important. In particular, logistics, transportation and cargo companies provide operational transparency by recording the fuel intake of their vehicles. In the construction sector, heavy construction equipment and service vehicles belonging to construction sites are tracked with UTTS, ensuring tax compliance and controlling fuel expenses. In the agricultural sector, fuel purchases of tractors and similar agricultural vehicles are regularly documented. In addition, organizations with large vehicle fleets such as public institutions, municipalities, personnel and student shuttles also use UTTS to comply with the legislation and achieve administrative efficiency.

Who is required to use UTTS?

  • Taxpayers who expensed fuel expenses for tax purposes
  • Commercial vehicles belonging to legal entities
  • Fleet owner companies
  • Vehicles belonging to public institutions
